Earlier this month, Hulu had the good fortune to add Anora to its lineup just a few weeks after it won Best Picture at the Oscars. This week, Hulu is adding another one of last year’s Best Picture nominees, A Complete Unknown. Naturally, it’s our top pick for the three great Hulu movies you need to stream this weekend.

Our two remaining picks for the last weekend in March are a college drama and one of Jim Carrey’s best movies. Any or all of these films are a great way to close out the month from the comfort of your own home.

A Complete Unknown (2024)

Timothée Chalamet and Elle Fanning in A Complete Unknown.
Searchlight Pictures

Timothée Chalamet and Ed Norton both received Oscar nominations for their respective performances as Bob Dylan and Pete Seeger in A Complete Unknown. Norton has a large supporting role, but this is Chalamet’s movie from start to finish. And if Chalamet had won Best Actor at the Academy Awards, it would have been well-deserved.

The film captures a period in time in Dylan’s life when he managed to break into the folk music scene. He also found romance with Sylvie Russo (Elle Fanning) while sharing undeniable chemistry with Joan Baez (Monica Barbaro), a music legend in her own right. Regardless, Dylan is moved to find his own path in the industry, rather than following someone else’s example. That’s going to lead to some bruised egos and broken relationships along the way.

The Line (2023)

The cast of The Line.
Utopia

The Line is all about college students with no concept of boundaries or the consequences of their own actions. Even after being warned by the dean, the guys of Kappa Nu Alpha gleefully flout the rules that were supposedly meant to keep them in check. Sophomore Tom Backster (Alex Wolff) even seems to be in line to be the next leader of the frat, especially since his rich friend, Mitch Miller (Bo Mitchell), supports him.

Eventually, Mitch pushes things too far during a hazing ritual, and suddenly the stakes are very real for Tom and the others who took part in the incident. That forces Tom to decide where his true loyalties lie, and how far he’s willing to go to escape the blame for something that could bring down the entire frat.

The Truman Show (1998)

Jim Carrey in "The Truman Show."
Paramount Pictures / Paramount Pictures

Truman Burbank (Jim Carrey) is the biggest star in the world; he just doesn’t know it. And if the director, Christof (Ed Harris), has his way, Truman will never find out. In the world of the film, The Truman Show is a reality series that has chronicled every moment of Truman’s life. He’s the only one who isn’t aware that everyone around him is an actor, including his made-for-TV wife, Meryl (Laura Linney).

A massive dome was constructed to keep Truman and his small town separated from the outside world. But when too many inexplicable things happen, Truman questions his reality and starts looking for a way out.

3 great action movies on Tubi you need to watch right now
John David Washington points a gun while on the ground in The Creator.

At this point, Tubi is not just "the free streaming service with ads." It's much more than that due to its well-stocked library of critical and financial hits. For example, Quentin Tarantino's Kill Bill movies are available on Tubi. Not paying a cent to watch Kill Bill should be illegal, but it's completely free with Tubi. Drive, Se7en, Platoon, and Apocalypto are several of the other high-profile selections.
One of Tubi's best genres is action. The page includes action stars like Sylvester Stallone, whose guilty pleasure from 1987 is one of our recommendations. The other two selections are a sci-fi epic with stunning visuals and one of Tom Cruise's better movies of the last 15 years.
We also have guides to the best movies on Netflix, the best movies on Hulu, the best movies on Amazon Prime Video, the best movies on Max, and the best movies on Disney+.
Over the Top (1987)

Over the Top is aptly named because of the exaggerated premise and ridiculous plot. This is a compliment, by the way. Sylvester Stallone plays Lincoln Hawk, a truck driver who pulls in extra cash by arm wrestling. After his estranged wife, Christina (Susan Blakely), becomes ill, Lincoln must pick up his 12-year-old son, Michael (David Mendenhall), and take him on a road trip.

3 great free movies to stream this weekend (April 4-6)
A group of band members sits in the back of a car.

Calling all builders, it's time to watch A Minecraft Movie. Warner Bros. might have its first hit in 2025 with an adaptation of the best-selling video game of all time. Jason Momoa and Jack Black will surely attract families to the theaters. With tracking continuing to surge past $70 million, A Minecraft Movie could get a quick sequel announcement.
Unsurprisingly, kids are the primary audience for A Minecraft Movie. Afterward, the parents need something to watch. Why not save money and stream a free movie on a FAST service? One of our selections honors the late Val Kilmer, who tragically died this past week at the age of 65. It's one of Kilmer's four biggest roles and perhaps his most memorable.

The Doors (1991)

After Val Kilmer passed, actress Jennifer Tilly shared a story about meeting the actor while auditioning for The Doors. Tilly wrote on X that Kilmer walked into the audition "barefoot, shirtless, and wearing nothing but a pair of tight leather pants." Tilly knew that Kilmer would play Jim Morrison, and "nobody else stood a chance."
Oliver Stone's The Doors follows the rise, fall, and tragic ending of Jim Morrison (Kilmer), the lead singer of The Doors. The band goes from local stars to overnight celebrities, mainly due to Jim's magnetic persona. However, Jim's drug addiction and foray into cult activities caused many disputes with the band. While not the greatest movie, it's a bold performance from Kilmer, whose commitment to the role is worth celebrating.

3 underrated (HBO) Max movies you should watch this weekend (April 4-6)
A man and woman look up and stare.

If you're interested in the legal dispute between Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni, In Dispute: Lively v Baldoni is now streaming on Max. The documentary has quickly become the most popular movie on the service. Elsewhere, new releases like Queer and Heretic are finding an even bigger audience on streaming than during their theatrical run.
Moving past the homepage, you'll find a great selection of underrated movies. One of these films is a critically panned superhero adventure. However, it has regained popularity due to the tragic death of its lead. You can view that movie and two more below.

Drinking Buddies (2013)

Filmmaker Joe Swanberg is a prominent figure in the mumblecore movement. Mumblecore films are typically low-budget and emphasize dialogue and improvisation over the plot. Drinking Buddies is an aptly named entry into the mumblecore genre. Who talks more than people who drink beer?
Kate (Olivia Wilde) and Luke (Jake Johnson) are friends who work at a Chicago brewery. You would assume the co-workers are dating because of their natural chemistry and comedic interactions. However, Kate and Luke are both in relationships. When they invite their significant others to hang out with them, things get a little awkward, as Kate and Jake contemplate their feelings for each other. It's a low-stakes, charming relationship drama that pairs perfectly with a beer.
